Braga Junior FC's attentive Valério Matorin managed to snatch the ball when Gilberto Sandoval made a throw-in in the 8th minute of the game. Ilkka Markkula took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adrian Mutu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adrian Mutu scored 2-0 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ilkka Markkula, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Adrian Mutu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ilkka Markkula having to make a save. Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Ilkka Markkula proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Club Deportes Santa Cruz from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adrian Mutu in the 25th minute of play forced Club Deportes Santa Cruz's goalkeeper Ilkka Markkula to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gilberto Sandoval hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. After 47 minutes of play, Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Podador Raheiro made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Brickeen Wall was left in no man's land by his defense there! Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Yan Zhi Chuan was substituted for Podador Raheiro. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Adrian Mutu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Yan Zhi Chuan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Adrian Mutu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Braga Junior FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Adrian Mutu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ilkka Markkula breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 76 minutes, Jairo Jacinto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Braga Junior FC and the Club Deportes Santa Cruz players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jairo Jacinto kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Ilkka Markkula made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrian Mutu in the 79th minute of play. 80 minutes into the match, Braga Junior FC's goal looked a bit too open when Yan Zhi Chuan came free, but Brickeen Wall reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ilkka Markkula showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adrian Mutu, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Braga Junior FC's Tomasz Waldoch got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Brickeen Wall took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yan Zhi Chuan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dinei Sergipano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 96th minute Yan Zhi Chuan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brickeen Wall saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
