But to his dismay, Ren Jie Fan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 21st minute Ren Jie Fan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonel Barros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ren Jie Fan might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Leonel Barros. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ren Jie Fan ran back to his position shaking his head. Guto Jacinto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teofilo Unai, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. In the 39th minute Erivaldo Pernambucano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guto Jacinto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leonel Barros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Didi Couto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 44 minutes into the game, Sigmund Tutorskiy was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GeRaÇãO-83's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wellington Phoenix the free kick. GeRaÇãO-83's José Augusto Vasconcelos quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion.

In the 90th match minute, GeRaÇãO-83 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robinho Freire to maneuver through the defense. In the 94th minute, Robinho Freire reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Leonel Barros. The goal made the score 2-3.

GeRaÇãO-83's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
