Nicanor Loiola stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Du Lei Bin's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. 9 minutes into the match, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's goal looked a bit too open when Lilcho Ilchov came free, but Herb Good reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nicanor Loiola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rostyslav Solodkyi in the 11th minute of the match. Herb Good made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Edgardo Ekaitz sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gery Hidayat got free with Herb Good in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Gery Hidayat kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Herb Good. That made the score 1-0 in the 18 minute of play. Artzai Pais kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Emilian Zgabei succeeded in the game's 23rd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. Herb Good took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erik Lamela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 33rd minute Emilian Zgabei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicanor Loiola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Sport Lisboa e Benfica's zone, Gery Hidayat stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Herb Good came out of the goal and Gery Hidayat tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Sport Lisboa e Benfica booed when BASEL FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erik Lamela didn't get a good kick on the ball.

BASEL FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
