Tony Pacheco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Hristofor Borchev made a huge save. Through an outstanding action, after 38 minutes, Hristofor Borchev successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 39 minutes had been played when some careless play by Bulgaria's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Wilfredo Murphy was slow to take the kick. During this time USA's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Miki Moco heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 42nd minute, Wilfredo Murphy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marko Ruskov made a kick off. Marko Ruskov who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 51stth minute tested the skills of Matthew Benjamin when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Hristofor Borchev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kerry Sellers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 55th minute USA were awarded a corner. Wilfredo Murphy went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on USA's corner Tony Pacheco fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Hristofor Borchev quite easily take care of the ball. After a rather tough play, Bulgaria's Lachezar Kavaldzhiev got a free kick in the 58th minute. 60 minutes into the match, Bulgaria's goal looked a bit too open when Kerry Sellers came free, but Hristofor Borchev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bulgaria's supporters rose to their feet, but Rafail Klenov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matthew Benjamin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Denimir Tzonkov in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Matthew Benjamin saved USA from getting behind. Matthew Benjamin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denimir Tzonkov in the 95th minute of play. The Bulgaria players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
