The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fausto Ferraz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Cayetano Behe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Alberto Magalhães in the 12th minute of play. 15 minutes into the match, Severiano Taurino sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Fausto Ferraz threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Severiano Taurino this time. A collision led to Deportivo Balvanera getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Eusebio Lehoi hit a great ball. In the 24th minute Leopoldo Sanches shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cayetano Behe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of S.E.R. Caxias do Sul booed when Deportivo Balvanera was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eusebio Lehoi didn't get a good kick on the ball.
