In the 39th match minute, Globo Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pablo Acosta to maneuver through the defense. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arnaldo Suero to make the kick off. Arnaldo Suero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Mänsur Rzayev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 54 minutes into the match, Azerbaijan's Şair Baloğlanov sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that João Francisco Lucas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Globo Juniors's Cayetano Velasco managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Müşfiq Ähäcanov in the 57 minute of the game. Azerbaijan's Mänsur Rzayev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnaldo Suero in the 62nd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aílton Neto during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mänsur Rzayev showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 80 minutes, Mehran Utandıbalayev mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Azerbaijan and the Globo Juniors players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Azerbaijan getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Mehran Utandıbalayev hit a great ball. In the 82nd minute Arnaldo Suero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mänsur Rzayev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th minute, Arnaldo Suero left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Globo Juniors fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2.
