In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Arrecifes's goalkeeper Güney Mengüalp, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Nacional's Grabiel Escorcia in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Arrecifes's goalie prevented a goal. Arrecifes's Modesto Gipuzkoa was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Cristiano Aveiro in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A collision led to Arrecifes getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Kevin De Bruyne hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Grabiel Escorcia made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Grabiel Escorcia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nacional's supporters rose to their feet, but Grabiel Escorcia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Güney Mengüalp breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arrecifes's Felipe Senon was substituted for Cirilo Ritchie. Arrecifes's Rodolfo Chumo was substituted for Waldemar Korytkowski. Güney Mengüalp made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Grabiel Escorcia in the 68th minute of play. In the 69th match minute, Nacional was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Candido to maneuver through the defense. 71 minutes into the match, Nacional's goalkeeper Cristiano Aveiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felipe Senon. Camilo Candido's late challenge caught a Arrecifes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Camilo Candido helped the player get up and apologised. Camilo Candido hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Arrecifes were awarded a corner in the 75th minute after Nacional's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Modesto Gipuzkoa took the corner. Hipolito Laurendi made a great header on Arrecifes's corner, it was just that Nacional's Cristiano Aveiro managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 79th minute, Camilo Candido hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Felipe Senon received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Arrecifes walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
