A collision led to Palestra do Interior getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Ronaldo Pirani hit a great ball. Nelsinho Marinho scored 0-1 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tony da Mata, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldo Pirani in the 19th minute of play forced Izaltina FAD's goalkeeper Tony da Mata to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, Izaltina FAD's Fernando Pras threw himself towards the right post 21 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gino de Lima, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Fernando Pras made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Vítor Duarte in the 24th minute of play. Ronaldo Pirani kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Richard Ríos hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. A collision led to Palestra do Interior getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Doni Pimenta hit a great ball. Dorian Dante, 31 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After 33 played minutes Izaltina FAD got a freekick which was hit by Rui Arantes. When Palestra do Interior's Ronaldo Pirani in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Izaltina FAD's goalie prevented a goal. Tony da Mata showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nelsinho Marinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nelsinho Marinho made a kick off. After 53 played minutes Izaltina FAD got a freekick which was hit by Waldir Mendes. After 54 played minutes Izaltina FAD got a freekick which was hit by Dorian Dante. In the 59th minute, Doni Pimenta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Palestra do Interior's Fernando Pras played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dorian Dante in the 75th minute of play. After 75 minutes of play, Izaltina FAD's Dorian Dante made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fernando Pras was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 79th minute, Maurinho Matorin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Izaltina FAD's Dorian Dante couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 80th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Palestra do Interior. Fernando Pras took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Vítor Duarte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 85 minutes into the game, Denílson Faria was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Izaltina FAD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palestra do Interior the free kick. Denílson Faria kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. If Perivaldo Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Izaltina FAD's Denílson Faria got his second yellow card of the match in the 90th minute. The referee ordered Denílson Faria off the ground. The supporters of Palestra do Interior booed when Izaltina FAD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Denílson Faria didn't get a good kick on the ball. Perivaldo Carneiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Tony da Mata made a huge save. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Palestra do Interior eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
