Dieter Hollants made a great header on Genk's corner, it was just that Figueira SC FSCMZ's Gino Hoffmann managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 14th match minute, Figueira SC FSCMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reinaldo Carvalho to maneuver through the defense. After 34 minutes of play, Genk's Boudewijn Horemans made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gino Hoffmann was left in no man's land by his defense there! 38 minutes into the match, Fredrik Creemers had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gino Hoffmann. Figueira SC FSCMZ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fredrik Creemers was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Didier Van Gorp to strike the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes, Didier Van Gorp made it 4-0 with a short kick to the right side. Figueira SC FSCMZ's Gino Hoffmann tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Gino Hoffmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fredrik Creemers in the 64th minute of the match. 65 minutes into the match, Figueira SC FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Didier Van Gorp came free, but Gino Hoffmann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wilfried Boumans showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dorival Matorin, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. The supporters of Genk booed when Figueira SC FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danilo Marques didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tim-Jan Huvenaerts took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gino Hoffmann. Gino Hoffmann dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. The supporters of Figueira SC FSCMZ booed when Genk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Boudewijn Horemans didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dorival Matorin got free with Wilfried Boumans in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. William Moraes struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Wilfried Boumans didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Figueira SC FSCMZ. Wilfried Boumans made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from William Moraes in the 80th minute of play. Dieter Hollants kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Gino Hoffmann came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by Genk's Didier Van Gorp. But to his dismay, Didier Van Gorp quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. Genk's Wilfried Boumans played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dorival Matorin in the 89th minute of play.
