A collision led to Royal Antwerp F.C. getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Jan Huybrechts hit a great ball. In the 29th match minute, Royal Antwerp F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivan Puttemas to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Mszczyczyn's zone, Jan Huybrechts stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Igor Mazurkiewicz came out of the goal and Jan Huybrechts tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 33rd match minute, Mszczyczyn was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Wachna to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Thys Konings in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Igor Mazurkiewicz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Mszczyczyn booed when Royal Antwerp F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lukas Coekelbergh didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thys Konings in the 39th minute of play forced Mszczyczyn's goalkeeper Igor Mazurkiewicz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Jan Huybrechts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jerzy Nuszkowski got free with Steffe De Prins in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zachariasz Drzewucki to make the kick off. Jan Huybrechts took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Igor Mazurkiewicz. Igor Mazurkiewicz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Mszczyczyn's Igor Mazurkiewicz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Mszczyczyn from getting a goal against them. In the 61st minute, Jerzy Nuszkowski made a precise shot to the right of Steffe De Prins. Royal Antwerp F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. In the 65th minute Arkadiusz Kilarski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Steffe De Prins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thys Konings received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Igor Mazurkiewicz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Conrad Rauvoe during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Thys Konings helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpected shot in the 74th minute by Jan Huybrechts got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Steffe De Prins didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jerzy Nuszkowski went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. In the 79th minute, one of Mszczyczyn:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mszczyczyn. The referee gave Royal Antwerp F.C. a penalty, 80 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ryszard Dropinski, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Mszczyczyn's Igor Mazurkiewicz. 2-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Thys Konings got free with Igor Mazurkiewicz in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thys Konings in the 90thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Igor Mazurkiewicz, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Jan Huybrechts's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Igor Mazurkiewicz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play.
