After taking down the ball on Gone With the Win's corner Gez Wendon fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Laerte Messias quite easily take care of the ball. In the 12th minute, Ali Toral left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Barcellos Mineiro FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. John Paul Metcalfe came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by Barcellos Mineiro FC's Jaime Cardozo. But to his dismay, Jaime Cardozo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 18 minutes into the match, Barcellos Mineiro FC's goalkeeper Laerte Messias had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jermaine Wroe. If Jaime Cardozo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. John Paul Metcalfe didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ali Toral went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Barcellos Mineiro FC's Laerte Messias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Noel Saville in the 33rd minute of play. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Laerte Messias. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-4.
