Damaso Orlin might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nicolas Bastos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Damaso Orlin ran back to his position shaking his head. Damaso Orlin's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Nicolas Bastos firmly grabbed it by the left post. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Damaso Orlin 13 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Amado Galeno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco Abreu in the 18th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Robinho de Godoi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Amado Galeno was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Racing Club's Damaso Orlin slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nicolas Bastos. That made the score 2-1 after 22 minutes of play. Oséas Palmeira hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Damaso Orlin came free with the goalkeeper in the 27th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Nicolas Bastos could save by the left post. In the 31st play minute Damaso Orlin came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Nicolas Bastos. 3-1. 34 minutes into the game, Caco Abreu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Amado Galeno was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 40 played minutes Racing Club got a freekick which was hit by Damaso Orlin. Damaso Orlin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Nicolas Bastos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damian Raphael, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. After having played for 60 minutes, Damaso Orlin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Racing Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Damaso Orlin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nicolas Bastos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damaso Orlin in the 64th minute of play. In the 70th match minute, Racing Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valentin Musko to maneuver through the defense. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Nicolas Bastos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damaso Orlin in the 72nd minute of play. Racing Club's Amado Galeno proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Racing Club from getting a goal against them. When Marquinhos da Costa fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's protests and gave Marquinhos da Costa a yellow card for diving instead. After a defensive mix-up in Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's zone, Damaso Orlin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicolas Bastos came out of the goal and Damaso Orlin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 86th minute, Damian Raphael got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nicolas Bastos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damian Raphael in the 89th minute of play. When Racing Club's Damaso Orlin in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's goalie prevented a goal. Amado Galeno made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marquinhos da Costa in the 95th minute.
