In the 18th match minute, Estudiantes de América was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ignacio Donostia to maneuver through the defense. Lucio Tabb could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Petros Vasdekis made a huge save. Estudiantes de América were awarded a corner in the 22th minute after Vakoufi Utd's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lucio Tabb took the corner. Pascual Acosta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vassilis Lazarakis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Vakoufi Utd's Petros Vasdekis got control of the ball when Lucio Tabb tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 28th minute, Vassilis Lazarakis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pascual Acosta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andreas Korpetis in the 44th minute of play. Konstantinos Tsevas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pascual Acosta having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de América's Eriberto Tancredo got a free kick in the 47th minute. Ignatios Poursaitidis was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 48th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Themis Pepper to strike the kick off in the second half.
