After 3 played minutes Vejbystrand got a freekick which was hit by Oskar Deckbergh. 4 minutes into the match, Atlético Capixaba's Wiliam Perez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that John Glad narrowly saved just below the crossbar. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wiliam Perez couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Harald Ennegren took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Jean Schmidt to make any attempt to save it. After the first half Atlético Capixaba were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
