After 8 minutes, Reinaldo Arce mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jumentus Rock Club and the C.S.D Punta Ballena players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 8th match minute, Jumentus Rock Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reinaldo Arce to maneuver through the defense. 13 minutes into the match, Jumentus Rock Club's goal looked a bit too open when Mario Albar came free, but Tomás Ceresso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nestor de Souza could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Jorrin Artiz made a huge save. Reinaldo Arce's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jorrin Artiz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. Federico Valverde charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Ermengol Velosa hit a great ball. Jorrin Artiz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artur Damião in the 34th minute of play. Jorrin Artiz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Reinaldo Arce showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 41 minute of play. After a rather tough play, C.S.D Punta Ballena's Hernan Petřík got a free kick in the 44th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mario Albar to make the kick off.
