Piotr Gongolewicz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. In the 12th minute Ívan Poddubnyi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Piotr Gongolewicz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, BYDGOSTIA's Feliks Iwanowski got a free kick in the 15th minute. 16 minutes into the match, Buba Kastorskiy had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Piotr Gongolewicz. BYDGOSTIA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Buba Kastorskiy was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in BYDGOSTIA's zone, Ívan Poddubnyi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Piotr Gongolewicz came out of the goal and Ívan Poddubnyi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aldo Zurita might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Piotr Gongolewicz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aldo Zurita ran back to his position shaking his head. Radomil Mindykowski kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. When BYDGOSTIA's Korneliusz Grucza in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Radomil Mindykowski scored 2-2 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of German Smirnov, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 31 minutes into the match, BYDGOSTIA's goal looked a bit too open when Ívan Poddubnyi came free, but Piotr Gongolewicz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Korneliusz Grucza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. German Smirnov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 34 minutes, Andrey Ertel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the WWW LENINGRAD and the BYDGOSTIA players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to WWW LENINGRAD getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Andrey Ertel hit a great ball. BYDGOSTIA's Radomil Mindykowski got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Korneliusz Grucza in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck German Smirnov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 37th minute, Rudolf Budraitis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Korneliusz Grucza in the 41st minute of play forced WWW LENINGRAD's goalkeeper German Smirnov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. BYDGOSTIA's Tytus Ratulowski suffered a concussion in the 42nd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. After 42 minutes of play WWW LENINGRAD's Andrey Ertel was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. BYDGOSTIA made a substitution. Dobromir Wawak replaced Tytus Ratulowski. In the 44th minute, Andrey Ertel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Radomil Mindykowski got free with German Smirnov in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ívan Poddubnyi to make the kick off. WWW LENINGRAD were furious when Emmanuil Trubkin was red carded, 56 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in WWW LENINGRAD fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 56th minute. Penalty! German Smirnov stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Radomil Mindykowski's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. In the 62nd minute Korneliusz Grucza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but German Smirnov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 66 played minutes BYDGOSTIA got a freekick which was hit by Zbyszek Jaraczeski. BYDGOSTIA made a substitution. Grzegorz Bierfass replaced Korneliusz Grucza. BYDGOSTIA made a substitution. Bogumil Rywin replaced Kajetan Ruzicki. The supporters of WWW LENINGRAD booed when BYDGOSTIA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zbyszek Jaraczeski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Feliks Iwanowski's late challenge caught a WWW LENINGRAD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. WWW LENINGRAD's Aldo Zurita got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A sloppy throw-in by Zbyszek Jaraczeski in the 80th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by WWW LENINGRAD's Oliver Kann. After 84 played minutes WWW LENINGRAD got a freekick which was hit by Rudolf Budraitis. In the 85th minute, Grzegorz Bierfass got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 96th minute, Grzegorz Bierfass made a precise shot to the right of German Smirnov. WWW LENINGRAD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. BYDGOSTIA's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
