Vágner Gaspar's late challenge caught a Club Atlético Lea Papá's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vágner Gaspar helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Club Atlético Lea Papá booed when MINEIROS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vágner Gaspar didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 6th minute Club Atlético Lea Papá were awarded a corner. Horacio Carbonari went to the cornerflag to take it. Claudio Scalise scored 0-2 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Serginho Taffarel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Claudio Scalise took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Serginho Taffarel. Serginho Taffarel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. If Claudio Scalise had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 22 minutes into the match, MINEIROS's goal looked a bit too open when Claudio Scalise came free, but Serginho Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcelo Carracedo scored 0-5 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Serginho Taffarel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 29th minute Marcelo Carracedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Serginho Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Serginho Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudio Scalise in the 37th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Claudio Scalise managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético Lea Papá's supporters rose to their feet, but Claudio Scalise was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Serginho Taffarel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Claudio Scalise's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Serginho Taffarel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. In the 44thth minute of the game Claudio Scalise who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but MINEIROS's Serginho Taffarel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Toninho Goiano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Claudio Scalise in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Serginho Taffarel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 54 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Lea Papá's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Quadros came free, but José Maria Buljubasich reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Club Atlético Lea Papá's José Maria Buljubasich played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benê Amorim in the 55th minute of play. 57 minutes had been played when some careless play by Club Atlético Lea Papá's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Silvinho Brodel was slow to take the kick. During this time MINEIROS's players had a chance to rest. In the 59th match minute, Club Atlético Lea Papá was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miguel Tejada to maneuver through the defense. José Maria Buljubasich didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joel Quadros went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-5 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Claudio Scalise's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Serginho Taffarel was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Claudio Scalise got free with Serginho Taffarel in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 71st match minute, MINEIROS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Paraíba to maneuver through the defense. Club Atlético Lea Papá made a substitution. Facundo Mallo replaced Wilmer Melgar. MINEIROS made a substitution. Christian Fernandes replaced Nilson de Souza. A collision led to MINEIROS getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. João Paraíba hit a great ball. In the 77thth minute of the game Valentin Arellano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but MINEIROS's Serginho Taffarel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Valentin Arellano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Serginho Taffarel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valentin Arellano's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. Club Atlético Lea Papá's Valentin Arellano got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The MINEIROS fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Club Atlético Lea Papá were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
