Chet Cho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 20thth minute tested the skills of Todor Slaveev when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Jude Théberge had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 25th minute, Rafail Lesev got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Todor Slaveev made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Chet Cho sent off a good shot on target. When the match clock showed 45 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Rafail Lesev sped through NDG Fury FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Stanton Ulrich. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
