In the 19th minute Lolo Estoyanoff shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zabal Salgado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Parque Europa FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave PEÑAROL PIPERO the free kick. After 31 played minutes Parque Europa FC got a freekick which was hit by Sabino Mayor. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelo Zalayeta in the 32nd minute of play forced Parque Europa FC's goalkeeper Zabal Salgado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Randall Rodríguez had great luck who in the 36thth minute grab hold of the ball when Frances Sánchez from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Zabal Salgado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelo Zalayeta in the 38th minute of the match. Santi Dobale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Randall Rodríguez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marcelo Zalayeta stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Zabal Salgado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelo Zalayeta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 57 minutes into the match, Marcelo Zalayeta dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Zabal Salgado, 1-1. Zabal Salgado was a little too slow when Marcelo Zalayeta got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 62nd minute. The score was now 1-2. PEÑAROL PIPERO's Oscar Macho was substituted for Carlos Alberto Aguilera. Clemencin Erosa hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. The supporters of PEÑAROL PIPERO booed when Parque Europa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anatolio Gonzalvez didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelo Zalayeta in the 70th minute of play forced Parque Europa FC's goalkeeper Zabal Salgado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Perdomo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 72ndth minute, Zabal Salgado skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Oscar Macho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Zabal Salgado made a huge save. 82 minutes into the game, Ixidor Gudiel threw the ball into play from the sideline. Parque Europa FC's Mingo Cordoba quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Mingo Cordoba's late challenge caught a PEÑAROL PIPERO's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mingo Cordoba helped the player get up and apologised. In the 83rd match minute, Parque Europa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mingo Cordoba to maneuver through the defense. In the 87th minute, Gonzalo De Los Santos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Frances Sánchez came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Parque Europa FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frances Sánchez couldn't finish the play. Oscar Macho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Zabal Salgado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zabal Salgado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelo Zalayeta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Oscar Macho fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored PEÑAROL PIPERO's protests and gave Oscar Macho a yellow card for diving instead. Oscar Macho kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. PEÑAROL PIPERO's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
