An unexpectedly hard shot by André-Pierre Gignac in the 8th minute of play forced Magallanes's goalkeeper Isidro Camara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jonathan Veronica in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Isidro Camara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 11th match minute, Les Tigres was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vinicio Jon to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot by Juan Fernando Pirola from long distance, 25 minutes into the match, got Paulino Lain's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hipolito Fritz was the one to do the kick off. In the 56th minute, André-Pierre Gignac made a precise shot to the right of Isidro Camara. Magallanes's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 94 minutes into the game, Godofredo Pirazzoli was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The Les Tigres supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Les Tigres would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
