The audience was convinced that Gil Cearense's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Panos Stelakos was relentless in the 4th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gil Cearense in the 8th minute of play forced Trifillia.FC's goalkeeper Panos Stelakos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vaggelis Traboukos hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Ryszard Iwanowski took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Panos Stelakos. Panos Stelakos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 13 minutes into the match, Trifillia.FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gil Cearense came free, but Panos Stelakos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 16 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for SORRISO E. C.! The supporters of SORRISO E. C. booed when Trifillia.FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vaggelis Traboukos didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th minute Ryszard Iwanowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Panos Stelakos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 38 played minutes Trifillia.FC got a freekick which was hit by Fivos Tzanetakis. Panos Stelakos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ryszard Iwanowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 42 played minutes Trifillia.FC got a freekick which was hit by Vaggelis Traboukos. When the match clock showed 44 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Gil Cearense sped through Trifillia.FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Panos Stelakos. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gil Cearense to strike the kick off in the second half. SORRISO E. C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gil Cearense in the 52nd minute. 58 minutes into the match, Trifillia.FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gil Cearense came free, but Panos Stelakos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ryszard Iwanowski got free with Panos Stelakos in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Panos Stelakos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gil Cearense's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. Panos Stelakos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gil Cearense, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Gil Cearense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Panos Stelakos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gil Cearense might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Panos Stelakos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gil Cearense ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match was over SORRISO E. C. could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Trifillia.FC throughout the match.
