The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A hard shot by Hamílton Mota from long distance, 21 minutes into the match, got David Reitan's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. S.C. Corinthians Paulista's Cássio Aparecido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl Zahl in the 23rd minute of play. 30 minutes into the game, Karl Zahl cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Cássio Aparecido was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some careless play in the S.C. Corinthians Paulista defense, Benjamin Buvarp kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cássio Aparecido. The S.C. Corinthians Paulista fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cássio Aparecido should have stopped the shot. Karl Zahl scored 0-3 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cássio Aparecido, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Karl Zahl to make the kick off. Benjamin Buvarp kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Cássio Aparecido made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Karl Zahl sent off a good shot on target. After 59 played minutes S.C. Corinthians Paulista got a freekick which was hit by Christiano Nascimento. The audience thought a goal was coming when Karl Zahl got free with Cássio Aparecido in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 71 minutes into the match, Åsnes's goal looked a bit too open when Olavo Loyola came free, but David Reitan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 76th minute, Amadeu Porto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 81 played minutes Åsnes got a freekick which was hit by Benjamin Buvarp. 82 minutes into the match, Åsnes's goal looked a bit too open when Olavo Loyola came free, but David Reitan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. David Reitan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olavo Loyola in the 85th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Karl Zahl kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cássio Aparecido. That made the score 0-5 in the 91 minute of play. Endre Svensen hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match.
