When Gastão Cesário fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s protests and gave Gastão Cesário a yellow card for diving instead. In the 20th match minute, Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gastão Cesário to maneuver through the defense. In the 21st minute, Ian Bittencourt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vila Mascote FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. With a little luck, Vila Mascote FC's Wilton Pernambucano got control of the ball when Gastão Cesário tried to sneak it across the goal line. After the first half Vila Mascote FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ian Bittencourt to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s goal looked a bit too open when Serafim Lucas came free, but Hamilton Poças reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Vila Mascote FC defense, Gastão Cesário kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wilton Pernambucano. Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vila Mascote FC the free kick. Haroldo Cardoso lost his temper 68 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 69th minute there was a penalty for Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.. Gastão Cesário stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Wilton Pernambucano. 2-2. Ian Bittencourt's late challenge caught a Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ian Bittencourt helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. David Lousada hit a great ball. Luís Guilherme Saraiva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Hamilton Poças made a huge save. If Gastão Cesário had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Luisão Tasso fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vila Mascote FC's protests and gave Luisão Tasso a yellow card for diving instead. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
