Tudor Bărbânță started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's goal looked a bit too open when Delmiro Macerio came free, but Marian Podgoreanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of FC UNIREA Alba Iulia booed when Q. T. I. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roberto Celio didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Q. T. I.'s zone, Cristian Casian stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Filomeno Perrando came out of the goal and Cristian Casian tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Cornel Câmpeanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 13th match minute, FC UNIREA Alba Iulia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Florin Astafiei to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jaime Menendo in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marian Podgoreanu saved FC UNIREA Alba Iulia from getting behind. If Delmiro Macerio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 19 minutes into the game, Q. T. I.'s Omar Ostots nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marian Podgoreanu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. With a little luck, Q. T. I.'s Filomeno Perrando got control of the ball when Cornel Câmpeanu tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Q. T. I.'s Gaston Stanislao got a free kick in the 24th minute. Filomeno Perrando made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Florin Astafiei sent off a good shot on target. In the 27th minute, Moise Amânaloae hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jaime Menendo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Moise Amânaloae kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Filomeno Perrando made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Florin Astafiei sent off a good shot on target. Marian Podgoreanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Delmiro Macerio in the 42nd minute of play. After the first half Q. T. I. were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 55th minute, Cristi Platon made a precise shot to the right of Filomeno Perrando. Q. T. I.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's defense didn't have a chance, in the 59th minute, when Delmiro Macerio scored to the left of an out of position Marian Podgoreanu, making the score, 1-2. 64 minutes into the game, Delmiro Macerio recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Marian Podgoreanu. Delmiro Macerio showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. 71 minutes into the game, FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's Tudor Bărbânță nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Filomeno Perrando made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. 75 minutes into the match, FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's goal looked a bit too open when Delmiro Macerio came free, but Marian Podgoreanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 81 minutes into the match, FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's goalkeeper Marian Podgoreanu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Omar Ostots. After 96 played minutes FC UNIREA Alba Iulia got a freekick which was hit by Gigel Câmpeanu. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Q. T. I. walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
