An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Luís Saldanha in the 5th minute of play forced Estrela Solitária's goalkeeper Silas Bastos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 7 played minutes Estrela Solitária got a freekick which was hit by Franklin Simões. 9 minutes into the match, Estrela Solitária's goal looked a bit too open when Leonardo Rosado came free, but Silas Bastos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Estrela Solitária's Igor de Amorim got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Álvaro Neiva hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. A hard shot 18 in the game by Anselmo Sampaio from a close distance when the talented Silas Bastos managed to make a qualified save. Estrela Solitária's players were relieved. 20 minutes into the match, Mundial EC's goal looked a bit too open when Fernandão Queirós came free, but Ruy Arce reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Mundial EC getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Oswaldo Santana hit a great ball. In the 28th minute Igor de Amorim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruy Arce saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Estrela Solitária getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Carlinhos Eger hit a great ball. In the 33rdth minute of the game Anselmo Sampaio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Estrela Solitária's Silas Bastos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Silas Bastos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leonardo Rosado in the 40th minute of the match. Chicão de Britos short, quick shot in the 41stth minute got Silas Bastos to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a rather tough play, Mundial EC's Tião Favoretto got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 45th minute of the match Álvaro Neiva shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ruy Arce showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 47th minute, Leonardo Rosado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Anselmo Sampaio made the kick off in the second half. Cesinha Medeiros struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Ruy Arce didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Estrela Solitária. Ruy Arce showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Igor de Amorim, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. After some careless play in the Mundial EC defense, Igor de Amorim kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ruy Arce. The Mundial EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ruy Arce should have stopped the shot. 64 minutes into the game, Mundial EC's Chicão de Brito nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Silas Bastos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. After some careless play in the Estrela Solitária defense, Anselmo Sampaio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Silas Bastos. The Estrela Solitária fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Silas Bastos should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Mundial EC getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Ramiro Madureira hit a great ball. Igor de Amorim in the 71stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ruy Arce, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Chicão de Brito charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Chicão de Brito the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Estrela Solitária booed when Mundial EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chicão de Brito didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cesinha Medeiros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Ruy Arce tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Betinho de Almeida could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Ruy Arce made a huge save. Ruy Arce took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cesinha Medeiros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ruy Arce made an important save on a dangerous shot by Igor de Amorim in the 81st minute. Silas Bastos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Luís Saldanha in the 93rd minute of play. Estrela Solitária's Silas Bastos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anselmo Sampaio in the 96th minute of play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
