Santos FC's Bart Greenwood played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcos Kinsen in the 20th minute of play. In the 26th minute, Zeledon Martxot ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bart Greenwood was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Eriberto Tono's late challenge caught a Santos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bart Greenwood showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iker Sal, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Eriberto Tono managed to get in a good position for a shot. Don Malbec's supporters rose to their feet, but Eriberto Tono was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bart Greenwood breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 42nd minute, Zeledon Martxot left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Don Malbec fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zeledon Martxot stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ruben Roldan struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Bart Greenwood stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zeledon Martxot's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. 94 minutes into the match, Don Malbec's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrick Orlinsky came free, but Honorato Abeitia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match was over Don Malbec could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Santos FC throughout the match.
