The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th match minute, Olympiacos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Panos Papathomas to maneuver through the defense. Mats Van Elsen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Notis Trontzos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Olympiacos FC's Nikiforos Valaoras got a free kick in the 19th minute. A collision led to Olympiacos FC getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Notis Trontzos hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexis Dellios in the 23rd minute of play forced Fox Hunting Squad's goalkeeper Mats Van Elsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute Notis Trontzos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mats Van Elsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Panos Papathomas struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Mats Van Elsen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Olympiacos FC. Notis Trontzos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dimitris Koudas took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mats Van Elsen. Mats Van Elsen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Georges Leclerq hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. In the 43rd minute of the match Grigoris Plexioudas shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mats Van Elsen showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Olympiacos FC booed when Fox Hunting Squad was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomas Marant didn't get a good kick on the ball.

Eustratios Vertsotis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Victor Steckens, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Robbe Coenens's late challenge caught a Olympiacos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Robbe Coenens helped the player get up and apologised. Robbe Coenens kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Olympiacos FC made a substitution. Fox Hunting Squad's Mats Van Elsen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Fox Hunting Squad from getting a goal against them. 61 minutes into the match, Fox Hunting Squad's goal looked a bit too open when Notis Trontzos came free, but Mats Van Elsen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dimitris Koudas couldn't finish the play. The Olympiacos FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
