Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Atletico San Jacopino's Enrico Mastrangelo got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 17th match minute, Lokomotiv Sick-Sack was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Birger Arvidsson to maneuver through the defense. Christopher Sjögren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alessio Caretti in the 19th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Franco Ballerini got free with Christopher Sjögren in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Herbert Bållström during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tony Lidman in the 33rd minute of play forced Atletico San Jacopino's goalkeeper Beppe Castellani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Lokomotiv Sick-Sack's George Wester in 36 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Beppe Castellani guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Beppe Castellani made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Lidman in the 38th minute of play. Atletico San Jacopino's Antonio Benvenuto got his second yellow card of the match in the 38th minute. The referee ordered Antonio Benvenuto off the ground. After 39 played minutes Atletico San Jacopino got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Benvenuto. If Uno Beck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alessio Caretti made a kick off. The supporters of Atletico San Jacopino booed when Lokomotiv Sick-Sack was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position.
