The referee ignored Garanhão do SUL's protests and gave Germano Vasques a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of PIAUÍ FC booed when Garanhão do SUL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Germano Vasques didn't get a good kick on the ball. José Lousada hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Cássio Madeira charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cássio Madeira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 17 played minutes Garanhão do SUL got a freekick which was hit by Cássio Madeira. 18 minutes into the match, Garanhão do SUL's goal looked a bit too open when Nelson Nunes came free, but Torcato Bentes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Álvaro Calçada fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amauri Marques having to interfere. Amauri Marques took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cássio Madeira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nelson Nunes in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Torcato Bentes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 26 minutes into the game, Gaspar Valadão was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Garanhão do SUL's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave PIAUÍ FC the free kick. Gaspar Valadão hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Torcato Bentes came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by PIAUÍ FC's Nelson Nunes. But to his dismay, Nelson Nunes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 35th match minute, Garanhão do SUL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gaspar Valadão to maneuver through the defense. Torcato Bentes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelson Nunes in the 36th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaldo Paranaense in the 44th minute of play forced Garanhão do SUL's goalkeeper Torcato Bentes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Torcato Bentes was a little too slow when Nelson Nunes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 46th minute. The score was now 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 52nd minute, Nelson Nunes made a precise shot to the right of Torcato Bentes. Garanhão do SUL's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. In the 55th minute Cássio Madeira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amauri Marques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Garanhão do SUL's Torcato Bentes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnaldo Paranaense in the 64th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nelson Nunes in the 67th minute of play forced Garanhão do SUL's goalkeeper Torcato Bentes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by José Lousada during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. José Lousada hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Torcato Bentes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaldo Paranaense, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Nelson Nunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Torcato Bentes having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nelson Nunes in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Torcato Bentes saved Garanhão do SUL from getting behind. Torcato Bentes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nelson Nunes's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. A collision led to Garanhão do SUL getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. José Conde hit a great ball. Torcato Bentes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaldo Paranaense, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. After 92 minutes of play Garanhão do SUL's Germano Vasques was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of PIAUÍ FC booed when Garanhão do SUL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Germano Vasques didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. PIAUÍ FC had played much better football throughout.
