After a rather tough play, Astillero del Guayas's Alfredo Rioboo got a free kick in the 8th minute. Vinicio Collado made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Teo Fero sent off a good shot on target. 11 minutes into the match, Henry Bada had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luis Bastia. Yupandú FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Henry Bada was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 15 minutes into the match, Astillero del Guayas's goalkeeper Vinicio Collado had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Teo Fero. Yupandú FC's Luis Bastia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lastra Trilla in the 17th minute of play. When Yupandú FC's Jose Refugio in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Severino Roano hit a great ball. After 40th play minutes Teo Fero shot 2-2, a short shot which went by Vinicio Collado and just under the crossbar into goal. Juan-Angel Ordax hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. The long shot by Tomas Cebo in the 43rd minute really tested Vinicio Collado's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

Vinicio Collado came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Yupandú FC's Teo Fero. But to his dismay, Teo Fero quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. A collision led to Astillero del Guayas getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. The supporters of Astillero del Guayas booed when Yupandú FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Refugio didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Astillero del Guayas. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jose Refugio in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vinicio Collado saved Astillero del Guayas from getting behind. A collision led to Astillero del Guayas getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Lastra Trilla hit a great ball. Vinicio Collado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teo Fero in the 91st minute of play. 92 minutes had been played when some careless play by Astillero del Guayas's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tomas Cebo was slow to take the kick. During this time Yupandú FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Yupandú FC's Tomas Cebo to fire away a dangerous shot which Vinicio Collado despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 95th minute Teo Fero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vinicio Collado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
