Fernando Lara didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Adolfo Pires went, in the 56th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 62 minutes into the match, Matungo Gaúcho's goalkeeper Fernando Lara had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adelino Lopes. Rui Aguas struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Fernando Lara didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gremio Viana. After a rather tough play, Matungo Gaúcho's Betão de Almeida got a free kick in the 67th minute. Fernando Lara was a little too slow when Filipe Quinaz got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 68th minute. The score was now 0-3. 71 minutes into the match, Matungo Gaúcho's goal looked a bit too open when Aparício Taborda came free, but Fernando Lara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 72 minutes into the game, Betão de Almeida was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fernando Lara acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 72nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Porfirio Bomba. Adolfo Pires recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Adelino Lopes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fernando Lara having to make a save. Acácio Veloso's late challenge caught a Gremio Viana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Acácio Veloso helped the player get up and apologised. Acácio Veloso kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Gremio Viana's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
