Álvaro Melo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 32nd minute, Álvaro Melo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The throw-in from Álvaro Melo in the 34th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by C.A Gryffindor's Ramiro Passos. Jailson Capixaba blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cássio Corinth having to make a save. Gilmar Couto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Cássio Corinth made a huge save. After a rather tough play, C.A Gryffindor's Dráuzio Medeiros got a free kick in the 38th minute. 39 minutes into the game, Botafogo MZRJ's Gilmar Couto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cássio Corinth made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Álvaro Melo got a throw-in 42 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Jailson Capixaba. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gilmar Couto was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Rene Crescencio managed to get in a good position for a shot. C.A Gryffindor's supporters rose to their feet, but Rene Crescencio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Vítor Netto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Botafogo MZRJ's José Vítor Netto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rene Crescencio in the 55th minute of play. José Vítor Netto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rene Crescencio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 63 played minutes C.A Gryffindor got a freekick which was hit by Dráuzio Medeiros. In the 69th minute of the game Álvaro Melo made a throw-in which Jailson Capixaba played forward. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilmar Couto in the 70th minute of play forced C.A Gryffindor's goalkeeper Cássio Corinth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 73 minutes into the game, C.A Gryffindor's Rene Crescencio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. José Vítor Netto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. C.A Gryffindor made a substitution. Mauro Oliveira replaced Rene Crescencio. Botafogo MZRJ's Isaltino Gomes was substituted for Gilvan Falcão. After 78 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Botafogo MZRJ! Botafogo MZRJ:s José Vítor Netto showed great skill when he stopped Vedillo Quijano:s penalty. Mauro Oliveira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but José Vítor Netto made a huge save. In the 90th match minute, Botafogo MZRJ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jailson Capixaba to maneuver through the defense. C.A Gryffindor's Dráuzio Medeiros managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Álvaro Melo in the 93 minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mauro Oliveira in the 97th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg José Vítor Netto saved Botafogo MZRJ from getting behind. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
