Abelado Arredondo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vrasidas Pelidis having to interfere. The supporters of O.T.E booed when Inter de Chillán was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnaldo Detmer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jorge Valdivia in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vrasidas Pelidis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. O.T.E's Vrasidas Pelidis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Valdivia in the 16th minute of play. Vrasidas Pelidis made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Ronaldo Nazário De Lima sent off a good shot on target. Ronaldo Nazário De Lima had several of the O.T.E's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 20 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Vrasidas Pelidis as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 24th minute Jorge Valdivia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vrasidas Pelidis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jorge Valdivia received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Vrasidas Pelidis came out and tried to block the shot, but Jorge Valdivia slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 29th minute. Jorge Valdivia struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Vrasidas Pelidis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Inter de Chillán. Kyriakos Lilis's late challenge caught a Inter de Chillán's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kyriakos Lilis helped the player get up and apologised. In the 33rd minute, Kyriakos Lilis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Kyriakos Lilis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ronaldo Nazário De Lima succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 4-0 in the 38th playminute. Lothar Matthæus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vrasidas Pelidis having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ronaldo Nazário De Lima got free with Vrasidas Pelidis in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lambis Kolevas to strike the kick off in the second half. Kyriakos Lilis was shown his second yellow card after 52 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. O.T.E's Vrasidas Pelidis tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to O.T.E getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Sakis Tavlaridis hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in O.T.E's zone, Jorge Valdivia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vrasidas Pelidis came out of the goal and Jorge Valdivia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vrasidas Pelidis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldo Nazário De Lima in the 69th minute of play. Vrasidas Pelidis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abelado Arredondo, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. In the 84th minute, Jorge Valdivia made a precise shot to the right of Vrasidas Pelidis. O.T.E's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 9-0. O.T.E's Vrasidas Pelidis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abelado Arredondo in the 87th minute of play. After 90 minutes, Achilleas Stergiotis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the O.T.E and the Inter de Chillán players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 90th match minute, O.T.E was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Achilleas Stergiotis to maneuver through the defense. If Jorge Valdivia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jorge Valdivia blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vrasidas Pelidis having to make a save. Ronaldo Nazário De Lima sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Inter de Chillán walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
