The supporters of Lemel SV booed when Nova Erechim - FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Songurbey Şahsuvar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Amadeo Rufo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manfred Konradsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lemel SV's George Wiklund played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edin Džeko in the 18th minute of play. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Manfred Konradsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Nova Erechim - FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Ettore Petroni came free, but Amadeo Rufo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nelson Quintal's late challenge caught a Lemel SV's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
