The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when Riesgo Cero was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kubilay İmge didn't get a good kick on the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alejandro Rufo made a kick off. Lech Biskupiak hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Cristian Vladimirescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matias Bilintx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 89th minute Amadeo Firman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Fernendo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Riesgo Cero's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Emeterio in the 90th minute. After taking down the ball on Riesgo Cero's corner Joel Emeterio fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Dante Fernendo quite easily take care of the ball. The Riesgo Cero supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Riesgo Cero would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
