Vidar Fransson made in the 5th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Kurt Hamrin immediately put the ball in play. Ronnie Hellström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kant Spel in the 8th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Skövde AIK's Hjalmar Hägert got a free kick in the 9th minute. After 12 played minutes BK Tåfjutt got a freekick which was hit by Rickard Julin. The supporters of Skövde AIK booed when BK Tåfjutt was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kant Spel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tam Ponga came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Skövde AIK's Jerry Williams. But to his dismay, Jerry Williams quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. BK Tåfjutt's Anton Bengtsson got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 24th minute, Kant Spel made a precise shot to the right of Ronnie Hellström. Skövde AIK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jerry Williams got free with Tam Ponga in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Skövde AIK's Ronnie Hellström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kant Spel in the 30th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Kant Spel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ronnie Hellström was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. Claes Telin was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 36 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 35th minute of the game. One of BK Tåfjutt:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Skövde AIK:s goal. When the match had been going on for 37 minutes, Skövde AIK's Hjalmar Hägert got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Tam Ponga. 41 minutes into the game, Jerry Williams cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Tam Ponga was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kevin Keegan to make the kick off. Kurt Hamrin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Skövde AIK's Ronnie Hellström got control of the ball when Anton Bengtsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tam Ponga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kurt Hamrin, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Vidar Fransson's late challenge caught a BK Tåfjutt's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vidar Fransson helped the player get up and apologised. Anton Bengtsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ronnie Hellström read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Vidar Fransson kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. BK Tåfjutt made a substitution. Best Scania replaced Kant Spel. In the 76th minute, Vidar Fransson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Skövde AIK getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Börje Vibjörnsson hit a great ball. Tam Ponga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Keegan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tam Ponga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kurt Hamrin in the 82nd minute of the match. 85 minutes into the game, one of BK Tåfjutt:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 87th minute of the match Skövde AIK got a corner. BK Tåfjutt's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Hjalmar Hägert ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Kurt Hamrin got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Tam Ponga quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. A collision led to Skövde AIK getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Melker Hjortsberg hit a great ball. In the 94th minute Jerry Williams shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tam Ponga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
