Gigel Tilea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Toader Bogrea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Sergiu Maniu came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the A4p FC Gad fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sergiu Maniu couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Academia Rio getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Johny Oltean hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cornel Poplăcan in the 14th minute of play forced A4p FC Gad's goalkeeper Mugur Aanicăi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sergiu Coșeriu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Mugur Aanicăi made a huge save. With a little luck, A4p FC Gad's Mugur Aanicăi got control of the ball when Sergiu Coșeriu tried to sneak it across the goal line. A4p FC Gad's Mugur Aanicăi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save A4p FC Gad from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as Cornel Poplăcan kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mugur Aanicăi. That made the score 1-0 in the 24 minute of play. Mugur Aanicăi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Gigel Tilea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tudor Cioculescu in the 44th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cornel Poplăcan to make the kick off. Mugur Aanicăi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sergiu Coșeriu, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Mugur Aanicăi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cornel Poplăcan in the 54th minute of the match. In the 55th match minute, A4p FC Gad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sergiu Maniu to maneuver through the defense. Radu Păvăloae scored 3-0 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mugur Aanicăi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Mugur Aanicăi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Radu Păvăloae's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. 62 minutes had been played when some careless play by A4p FC Gad's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dumitru Pantelimon was slow to take the kick. During this time Academia Rio's players had a chance to rest. A4p FC Gad's Sergiu Maniu got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 67 played minutes, Academia Rio's Dumitru Pantelimon shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Mugur Aanicăi came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Academia Rio reached it. Sergiu Coșeriu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 75th minute, Codrin Ionete left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Academia Rio fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. In the 84th minute Codrin Ionete shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mugur Aanicăi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergiu Coșeriu in the 86th minute of play forced A4p FC Gad's goalkeeper Mugur Aanicăi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Johny Oltean took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 88th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Mugur Aanicăi. A4p FC Gad's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. A collision led to A4p FC Gad getting a freekick after 89 minutes play.
