In the 5th minute, Sabin Miclauș left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Maci -MM- fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. When FC Maci -MM-'s Anatoly Karpov in the 8th minute got a chance for a shot 8th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After 21 minutes of play, FC Maci -MM-'s Anatoly Karpov made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Valer Onișoru was left in no man's land by his defense there! They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Valer Onișoru made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Anatoly Karpov sent off a good shot on target. 65 minutes into the game, Anatoly Karpov cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-5. Valer Onișoru was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Iurie Poplăcan charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Iurie Poplăcan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of FC Maci -MM- booed when PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iurie Poplăcan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Iurie Poplăcan got a free kick in the 71st minute. Valer Onișoru stood somewhat misplaced when Magnus Carlsen came free in front of goal and shot 0-6 to the left of him in the 73 minute. In the 75th match minute, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iulian Stroe to maneuver through the defense.
