The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Kaká Vinhas hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. A. A. SAQUAREMA's Marcelinho Quadros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shi Li in the 6th minute of play. After a rather tough play, A. A. SAQUAREMA's Leonel Seco got a free kick in the 7th minute. Octavian Soare made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benjamin Brereton in the 10th minute of play. Shi Li could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Marcelinho Quadros made a huge save. The crowd rose to their feet as Galati Harbour Cats's Shi Li slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Marcelinho Quadros. That made the score 1-0 after 17 minutes of play. In the 20th minute Waldir Fernandez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Octavian Soare saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcelinho Quadros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ştefan Sticlaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the 21st minute, Ştefan Sticlaru made a precise shot to the right of Marcelinho Quadros. A. A. SAQUAREMA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. 27 minutes into the match, A. A. SAQUAREMA's Benjamin Brereton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Octavian Soare narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Marcelinho Quadros was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Shi Li showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 29 minute of play. When Shi Li came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Galati Harbour Cats fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Shi Li couldn't finish the play. In the 35th minute of the match Galati Harbour Cats got a corner. A. A. SAQUAREMA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dan Petrescu ran over to the corner to take the kick. At last the ball reached Antoni Dembkowski at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of A. A. SAQUAREMA. 4-0. 38 minutes into the game, Shi Li recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Marcelinho Quadros. Shi Li showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 5-0. The audience was convinced that Shi Li's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcelinho Quadros was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. Octavian Soare took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benjamin Brereton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Shi Li to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the A. A. SAQUAREMA defense, Ştefan Sticlaru kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcelinho Quadros. The A. A. SAQUAREMA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcelinho Quadros should have stopped the shot. Shi Li received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Marcelinho Quadros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 57th minute Benjamin Brereton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Octavian Soare saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A. A. SAQUAREMA's Marcelinho Quadros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shi Li in the 92nd minute of play. Benjamin Brereton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Galati Harbour Cats had won after a very even match.
