The supporters of Mercedes booed when Salvador Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reginaldo Arruda didn't get a good kick on the ball. Evaristo Sasoin struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Luís Fernando Batista didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mercedes. Mercedes's Justo Ixona proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Mercedes from getting a goal against them. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Mercedes were victorious despite being under pressure from Salvador Futebol Clube for much of the match.
