The supporters of Chile booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arturo Espiridion didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leonardo Tipi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonardo Tipi in the 54th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Glenn Fyfe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Thomas Cochrane got free with Ismael Furman in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Juan Ramírez kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Glenn Fyfe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Santxol in the 65th minute of play. Chile's Glenn Fyfe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victor Santxol in the 67th minute of play. In the 68th minute of the match, Carlo Darrigrande tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ismael Furman saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Eren Jaeger made in the 70th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Mexico's Benjamin Mikolas. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlo Darrigrande in the 72nd minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Ismael Furman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 74 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Mexico! The excitement rose when Chile's Arnaldo Albano after 76 played minutes turned away three defenders near the goal, and after that shot a ball that was too difficult for Mexico's goalkeeper to hold. Score! 1-1. Chile's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Bautista Marcó in the 82nd minute. The corner led Chile's Felipe Báez to fire away a dangerous shot which Ismael Furman despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 85 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Santxol came free, but Glenn Fyfe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Felipe Báez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chile's supporters rose to their feet, but Felipe Báez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ismael Furman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Salvador Quezada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A throw-in in the 93rd minute of the game was made by Cuauhtémoc Cardenas with Victor Santxol as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
