The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Fred Kirkpatrick ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jânio de Barros was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. In the 8th match minute, Zamalek FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mugurel Balaeț to maneuver through the defense. In the 10th minute, Leonardo Lane ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jânio de Barros was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Jânio de Barros came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Zamalek FC's Leonardo Lane. But to his dismay, Leonardo Lane quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Alfredinho Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 18 minutes into the match, Ballybunion Celtic F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Leonardo Lane came free, but Jânio de Barros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jânio de Barros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mugurel Balaeț, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alessandro Queirós in the 29th minute of play forced Zamalek FC's goalkeeper Rhys Dimmock to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 33rd minute Leonardo Lane shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jânio de Barros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ahmet Kadri Uğurtay in the 34th minute of play forced Zamalek FC's goalkeeper Rhys Dimmock to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37th minute, Ahmet Kadri Uğurtay made a precise shot to the right of Rhys Dimmock. Zamalek FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Leonardo Lane ran over to the corner to take the kick. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

In the 51st minute of the match, Alfredinho Teixeira got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rhys Dimmock was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Rhys Dimmock showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ahmet Kadri Uğurtay in the 52nd minute of the match. Jânio de Barros came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Zamalek FC's Sergey Krasinskiy. But to his dismay, Sergey Krasinskiy quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alessandro Queirós in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rhys Dimmock prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Alessandro Queirós's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rhys Dimmock was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonardo Lane in the 61st minute of play forced Ballybunion Celtic F.C.'s goalkeeper Jânio de Barros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Alessandro Queirós fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ballybunion Celtic F.C.'s protests and gave Alessandro Queirós a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ballybunion Celtic F.C. getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Alessandro Queirós hit a great ball. Zamalek FC made a substitution. Tytus Banaszak replaced Fred Kirkpatrick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daron Joseph in the 74th minute of play forced Ballybunion Celtic F.C.'s goalkeeper Jânio de Barros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 76th minute, Sergey Krasinskiy left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Zamalek FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. Jânio de Barros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daron Joseph in the 84th minute of play. In the 87th minute, Ahmet Kadri Uğurtay ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rhys Dimmock was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-2. Zamalek FC's Rhys Dimmock proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Zamalek FC from getting a goal against them. With an all-out effort, Ballybunion Celtic F.C.'s Rhys Dimmock threw himself towards the right post 94 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ahmet Kadri Uğurtay, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 95th minute Jann Bernickow shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jânio de Barros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bektaş Ali Şencan's late challenge caught a Zamalek FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bektaş Ali Şencan helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Ballybunion Celtic F.C.'s Bektaş Ali Şencan got a free kick in the 95th minute. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Zamalek FC had won after a very even match.
