Rhys Dimmock had great luck who in the 15thth minute grab hold of the ball when Olimpiu Dragnea from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. 18 minutes into the match, Zamalek FC's goalkeeper Rhys Dimmock had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Lane. In the 20th minute Kenny Anson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rhys Dimmock saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fred Kirkpatrick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Phil Porter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Goo Goo Dolls's zone, Fred Kirkpatrick stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Phil Porter came out of the goal and Fred Kirkpatrick tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Goo Goo Dolls's Phil Porter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fred Kirkpatrick in the 29th minute of play. Olimpiu Dragnea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Rhys Dimmock made a huge save. If Leonardo Lane had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 36 minutes into the match, Goo Goo Dolls's goal looked a bit too open when Fred Kirkpatrick came free, but Phil Porter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Zamalek FC's goal looked a bit too open when Olimpiu Dragnea came free, but Rhys Dimmock reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 43rd match minute, Goo Goo Dolls was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matteo Gillis to maneuver through the defense. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Olimpiu Dragnea stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Zamalek FC's Rhys Dimmock played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olimpiu Dragnea in the 51st minute of play. In the 53rd minute Goo Goo Dolls were awarded a corner. Olimpiu Dragnea went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 58th match minute, Zamalek FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sergey Krasinskiy to maneuver through the defense. Zamalek FC's Rhys Dimmock played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kenny Anson in the 61st minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Goo Goo Dolls's goalkeeper Phil Porter had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fred Kirkpatrick. In the 69th minute of the match, Tytus Banaszak got a very nice opportunity to score, but Phil Porter was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Phil Porter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daron Joseph in the 74th minute of the match. In the 76th minute Olimpiu Dragnea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rhys Dimmock saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rhys Dimmock made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kenny Anson in the 78th minute of play. Olimpiu Dragnea scored 1-0 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rhys Dimmock, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 86 minutes, Olimpiu Dragnea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Goo Goo Dolls's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olimpiu Dragnea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The corner ended in Mugurel Balaeț almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Goo Goo Dolls's Phil Porter did a great save. For all the effort they put into the match, the Zamalek FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Goo Goo Dolls.
