In the 12th minute of the match, Glenn Fyfe tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but João Francisco Lucas saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. João Francisco Lucas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Glenn Fyfe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 31st minute Pablo Acosta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ignacio Quiroga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Chile's zone, Arnaldo Suero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ignacio Quiroga came out of the goal and Arnaldo Suero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Globo Juniors's João Francisco Lucas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Glenn Fyfe in the 36th minute of play. Ignacio Quiroga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Suero in the 37th minute of play. In the 44th minute, Globo Juniors's Hakkı Kenan Hükümran seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Hakkı Kenan Hükümran the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Globo Juniors protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Hakkı Kenan Hükümran had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. João Francisco Lucas had in the 47thth minute some difficulties stopping Filomeno Olivos's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pablo Acosta made a kick off. João Francisco Lucas came out of the goal in the 51st minute to try and stop a shot by Chile's Glenn Fyfe. But to his dismay, Glenn Fyfe quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. João Francisco Lucas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eren Jaeger in the 54th minute of play. In the 55th minute Glenn Fyfe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Francisco Lucas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 56 minutes into the game, Chile's Darío Friederichs nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. João Francisco Lucas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eren Jaeger in the 59th minute of play forced Globo Juniors's goalkeeper João Francisco Lucas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 61 minutes into the match, Globo Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Glenn Fyfe came free, but João Francisco Lucas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Darío Friederichs in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck João Francisco Lucas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 66th minute Darío Friederichs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Francisco Lucas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. João Francisco Lucas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
