Sven-Edvin Jansson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. GuateFortín's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Florencio Villegas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Nery Pumpido came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Cavaliers FC's Florencio Villegas. But to his dismay, Florencio Villegas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. After 34 minutes GuateFortín's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Teofilo Mikeldi who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Teofilo Mikeldi got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Nery Pumpido quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After some careless play in the GuateFortín defense, Florencio Villegas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nery Pumpido. The GuateFortín fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nery Pumpido should have stopped the shot. Cornelio Villegas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rudy Sigaran, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Máximo Perrone blasted a shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cornelio Villegas having to make a save. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Máximo Perrone stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Claudio Cerritos charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Claudio Cerritos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to GuateFortín getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Claudio Cerritos hit a great ball. Teofilo Mikeldi took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 53rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nery Pumpido. GuateFortín's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. GuateFortín's Mario Gomez was substituted for Angel Alvarenga. GuateFortín made a substitution. Heriberto Correa replaced Roberto Trotta. In the 69th minute of the match Cavaliers FC got a corner. GuateFortín's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Teofilo Mikeldi ran over to the corner to take the kick. Cavaliers FC's Rodrigo Etor was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Nery Pumpido in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. GuateFortín's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
