In the 14th minute Jack Truchet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dave Bassani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th match minute, Le Stade Briochin UC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Octave Revel to maneuver through the defense. The long shot by Amos Zaccardi in the 17th minute really tested Faustin Payan's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Bruno Castrucci recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dave Bassani showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jack Truchet, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Le Stade Briochin UC were awarded a corner in the 32th minute after Aversa's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Achille Savignac took the corner. After taking down the ball on Le Stade Briochin UC's corner Thierry Fouassier fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Dave Bassani quite easily take care of the ball. In the 33rd minute, Thierry Fouassier ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dave Bassani was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. 37 minutes into the match, Aversa's goal looked a bit too open when Gaël Pillot came free, but Dave Bassani reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dave Bassani made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaël Pillot in the 37th minute of play. With a little luck, Le Stade Briochin UC's Faustin Payan got control of the ball when Bruno Castrucci tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ciro Paolini kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Jack Truchet struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Dave Bassani didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Le Stade Briochin UC. After the first half Le Stade Briochin UC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Yannick Miquel stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Le Stade Briochin UC booed when Aversa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alessio Troiani didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 57th minute Batiste Talon suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. Le Stade Briochin UC's Freddy Blond was substituted for Batiste Talon. In the 59th minute, Alessio Troiani hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 61 minutes, Bruno Castrucci managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aversa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bruno Castrucci was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Armin Panza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faustin Payan having to interfere. Yannick Miquel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aversa's Dave Bassani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yannick Miquel in the 74th minute of play. The supporters of Le Stade Briochin UC booed when Aversa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amos Zaccardi didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 81st minute Concetto Betti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Faustin Payan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Yannick Miquel ran back to his position shaking his head. If Achille Savignac had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 90 played minutes Aversa got a freekick which was hit by Ciro Paolini. In the 91st minute of the match Freddy Blond shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dave Bassani showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Achille Mastrocola kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jack Truchet in the 92nd minute of play forced Aversa's goalkeeper Dave Bassani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Faustin Payan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruno Castrucci in the 93rd minute of the match. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Le Stade Briochin UC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
