Club El Progreso's supporters crossed their fingers, but Blas Telesforo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Cayetano Brion fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club El Progreso's protests and gave Cayetano Brion a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Re Loco booed when Club El Progreso was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cayetano Brion didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 31 minutes, Baldomero Salomon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club El Progreso and the Re Loco players grew even worse after the yellow card. Blas Telesforo in the 44thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Haroldo Emenon, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Blas Telesforos short, quick shot in the 46thth minute got Haroldo Emenon to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Blas Telesforo to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Club El Progreso's goal looked a bit too open when Clodoveo Herensuge came free, but Federico Salvidor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Niceto Elia hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Club El Progreso's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
