Matthias Bern could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Teófilo Belém made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 5 minutes, Matthias Bern took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Teófilo Belém to make any attempt to save it. Staffan Eckegren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frits Evenhuis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Matthias Bern's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Teófilo Belém read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Matthias Bern in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Teófilo Belém saved MC ESPANHOL from getting behind. Staffan Eckegren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Virgílio Serpa in the 16th minute of the match. Staffan Eckegren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Virgílio Serpa, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. G A I S's attentive Washington Andrade managed to snatch the ball when Caetano Bezerra made a throw-in in the 22nd minute of the game. The throw-in from Mauro Nascimento in the 27th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by G A I S's Washington Andrade. If Washington Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matthias Bern received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Teófilo Belém came out and tried to block the shot, but Matthias Bern slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 30th minute. After 33 minutes of play, G A I S's Matthias Bern made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Teófilo Belém was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 36th minute Cléber Marinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teófilo Belém saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 40 minutes, Teófilo Belém successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Severino Ribeiro in the 42nd minute of play forced G A I S's goalkeeper Staffan Eckegren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Frits Evenhuis made the kick off in the second half. MC ESPANHOL's Teófilo Belém played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matthias Bern in the 52nd minute of play. After 53 minutes MC ESPANHOL's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Herman Källberg who took care of the corner kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Zavior Moiselo heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Teófilo Belém showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matthias Bern, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Matthias Bern received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Teófilo Belém tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A sloppy throw-in by Caetano Bezerra in the 63rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by G A I S's Washington Andrade. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Matthias Bern put it in 4-0 from a short distance just to the right of Teófilo Belém. The audience thought a goal was coming when Frits Evenhuis got free with Staffan Eckegren in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Frits Evenhuis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Staffan Eckegren having to interfere. Kostas Sourpis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Teófilo Belém showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matthias Bern, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Staffan Eckegren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severino Ribeiro in the 79th minute of play. 85 minutes into the match, G A I S's goal looked a bit too open when Virgílio Serpa came free, but Staffan Eckegren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kostas Sourpis received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Staffan Eckegren came out and tried to block the shot, but Kostas Sourpis slotted it home off the left post making it 4-1 in the 89th minute. Staffan Eckegren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgílio Serpa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Virgílio Serpa struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Staffan Eckegren didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MC ESPANHOL. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. G A I S fully deserved thier win.
