Anselmo Nevada hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. In the 26th minute Saverio Niva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Germano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Germano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Saverio Niva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fabio Artaldo made in the 30th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Vancouver Reds's Greger Sandström. An unexpectedly hard shot by Saverio Niva in the 30th minute of play forced Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper Carlos Germano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Carlos Germano managed to avoid a goal in the 32ndth minute, when Vancouver Reds's Wágner Recife fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The supporters of Club Atlético Atlanta booed when Vancouver Reds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wágner Recife didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Greger Sandström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 62nd minute, Anselmo Nevada ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Santana Armada was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Carlos Germano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodrigo Ferdinand in the 64th minute of the match. After 67 minutes Club Atlético Atlanta's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Greger Sandström who took care of the corner kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Vancouver Reds fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 68th minute. Penalty! In the 77thth minute of the game Rodrigo Ferdinand who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Atlético Atlanta's Carlos Germano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rodrigo Ferdinand in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Germano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Abel Iban had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Vancouver Reds players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
