An unexpectedly hard shot by Baldomero Ilazki in the 5th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Calixto Inchaurdi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 11th minute Enrique Cassaretto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ismael Furman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Everardo Dei kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. The supporters of Mexico booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albert Camus didn't get a good kick on the ball. Peru's Calixto Inchaurdi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Baldomero Ilazki in the 19th minute of play. In the 31st minute, James Bom hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Calixto Inchaurdi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcos Libertad in the 32nd minute. Enrique Cassaretto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enrique Cassaretto in the 35th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Ismael Furman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th minute, Baldomero Ilazki hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 43rdth minute of the game Enrique Cassaretto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mexico's Ismael Furman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Victorino Ibar succeeded in the game's 45th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Victorino Ibar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute Baldomero Ilazki shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Calixto Inchaurdi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 58th match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baldomero Ilazki to maneuver through the defense. Mexico's Ismael Furman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Cassaretto in the 60th minute of play. Peru's Humberto Requena was substituted for Blasi Asas. Peru's Jorrin Briones was substituted for Enrique Cassaretto. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Baldomero Ilazki in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Calixto Inchaurdi saved Peru from getting behind. If Marino Pacheco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mexico made a substitution. Orlando Shantala replaced Victorino Ibar. Everardo Dei made in the 84th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Venancio Hernando. Calixto Inchaurdi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baldomero Ilazki, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Calixto Inchaurdi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Orlando Shantala in the 88th minute of the match. 89 minutes into the game, Jorrin Briones recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ismael Furman. Jorrin Briones showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Ismael Furman made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Jorrin Briones sent off a good shot on target. Ismael Furman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jorrin Briones's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. Mexico were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Peru for a fine match.
